I'm proud to be an artist. After my retirement from work as a Nurse Practitioner, I pursued my true passion, creating works of art. I attended school at Normandale College in Minnesota in 1995.
In 2013, I moved to Port St. Lucie, Florida, and my creations have taken on a new energy and dimension. I have a gift for being able to view any photo, and transform it into a work of art. Depending on the inspiration I receive, it may look a great deal like the photo, or I may take artistic liberties. I can create the perfect portrait for you; be it a person. animal, favorite home, landscape, floral, super hero, or abstract.
I work in watercolor, oil, acrylic, chalk pastel, oil pastel, charcoal, acrylic ink, color and graphite pencil, clay sculpture, and environmental media.
I am an art instructor as well. I have taught at IRSC Fielden Institute for Lifelong Learning, St. Andrew School of Art, Grace School of Art, Visionary School of Art, Port St. Lucie Community Center, as well as providing individual and group private lessons, and painting parties.
When I teach art to my students, I use a step by step approach. I begin with basic techniques, and advance as the student is able. My students learn that my approach is relaxed and enjoyable. My philosophy is that we don't make mistakes. We make adjustments. If we don't like what we see on the paper, we simply erase, and make an adjustment. I assist my students in identifying the need to make adjustments, and how to implement those changes, but I do not correct their work for them. Their work is their own. Students begin projects right from the start, and in no time are producing beautiful works of art, that they are proud to call their own.

I have friends who are fantastic photographers, who are kind enough to allow me to use their work as inspiration for my creations.
The people that I have come to meet, and the friendships that have evolved have brought a joyfulness and energy to my life.
My students have motivated me to become a better artist as well as a better instructor. My favorite part of teaching is that "Ah Ha!" moment, when my student realizes that he/she has become an artist who can produce wonderful works of art, and have fun while creating! I specialize in Inner Artist Discovery!
